Position Summary
Under the direction of a certified teacher, provide support to students with special education needs in a full-time, non-exempt position. This role involves working closely with students and teachers to enhance their educational experience within an 188-day contract from Monday through Friday for 8 hours daily.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student
- Support students with special educational requirements, including those who may have physical or cognitive disabilities
- Facilitate a positive learning environment that encourages participation and engagement among all students
- Collaborate with teachers and other paraeducators to ensure consistency in support strategies and interventions
- Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities as required by the school district
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required; additional education or experience may be preferred
- Certification or training in special education paraeducator is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff
- Prior experience working with children with special needs is a plus
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to diverse learning environments
