About This Position
RFK Community Alliance is seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Science Teacher to join our team at the Dr. Franklin Perkins School (DFPS) in Lancaster, MA. The DFPS serves students aged 10-22 with multiple disabilities and offers both science teaching positions: one for general science education and another for special education. This role is crucial in fostering a supportive learning environment that caters to diverse needs.
Core Duties
- Educate students in the principles, concepts, and applications of science
- Create and implement lesson plans aligned with state standards for both general education and special education
- Provide individualized instruction to meet the unique needs of each student
- Develop and maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and growth
- Collaborate with other educators, administrators, and support staff to ensure comprehensive educational programs
What We're Looking For
- A Master's degree in Science Education or a related field is required for the general science position; a special education certification is preferred for the secondary special education role
- At least 3 years of experience teaching in a high school setting, with experience working with students who have multiple disabilities being highly desirable
- A strong commitment to inclusive education and a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of students
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
