Role Overview

The role of a school counsellor at Parkes High School is integral to the department's School Counselling Service. As a school counsellor, you will provide individual and group counselling sessions for students, conduct psychological assessments, and collaborate with teachers to enhance student learning outcomes and overall wellbeing. You will also support families in understanding their children's educational and mental health needs.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group counselling sessions for students
• Perform psychological assessments to identify students' needs
• Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to address student issues
• Develop and implement strategies to support students' learning and wellbeing
• Provide information and resources to families regarding their children's mental health and educational needs

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in School Counselling, Psychology, or a related field
• Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors (AIPC) membership or equivalent
• Experience working with diverse student populations and families
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff
• Valid driver's license and reliable transport for travel within the Dubbo area (if applicable)
