Cole Academy is currently hiring for a Full Time 1:1 Special Education Paraprofessional. Located in Redford, Michigan, Cole Academy is Lansing's longest-standing charter school and received its charter through Central Michigan University in 1995. The Academy has grown from an Early Childhood Center to a K-5 Public School over the years.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized support to students with special needs, ensuring their academic progress and personal development
- Assist in creating and implementing educational programs tailored to each student's unique requirements
- Support teachers in classroom management and instruction, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
- Participate in regular meetings with educators and other support staff to discuss student progress and address any concerns
- Help maintain accurate records of student performance and progress
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree in education or a related field is preferred
- Certification as a special education paraprofessional, or the ability to obtain certification within six months of employment
- Demonstrated experience working with children with diverse learning needs and backgrounds
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effective collaboration with teachers and other staff members
