About the Role

As a Special Education Paraprofessional at Washington Elementary, you'll work closely with special education teachers and classroom staff to provide essential instructional and behavioral support. You'll spend your days collaborating with students who have individualized education plans (IEPs), helping bridge gaps in learning and fostering an inclusive classroom environment where every student can thrive.

What You'll Do

• Assist special education teachers in delivering small-group and one-on-one instruction tailored to student IEPs
• Support students with academic skills including reading, writing, math, and other core subjects
• Help implement behavioral strategies and classroom management techniques
• Reinforce lesson concepts and practice skills across multiple settings
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals
• Assist with adaptive equipment, assistive technology, or alternative communication methods as needed
• Support classroom transitions, routines, and social-emotional skill development
• Maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively with teachers and families

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, specialists, and families
• Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills
• Willingness to support diverse learners and adapt to individual needs
• Physical ability to assist students as needed and work in an active classroom environment
• Commitment to maintaining student privacy and following school policies
• Tier 1 certification required before employment begins (certification fee: $12.00)
