Norman Public Schools is hiring an enthusiastic 26-27 Assistant Cheer Coach at Norman North High School in Norman, US, to help guide, motivate, and develop our student-athletes throughout the upcoming season.
About the Role
As the 26-27 Assistant Cheer Coach with Norman Public Schools, you will support the head coach in building a positive, disciplined, and spirited cheerleading program. This is a full-time, on-site coaching position within our Athletics and Activities department, centered on the safety, growth, and success of every cheerleader.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and leading practices, conditioning, and game-day routines.
- Emphasize care, prevention, and safe technique to reduce the risk of athletic injury.
- Teach proper cheer fundamentals, stunting, and tumbling skills appropriate to each athlete's level.
- Model good sportsmanship, school spirit, and respectful conduct at events and competitions.
- Help supervise students during practices, games, and team travel.
- Communicate clearly with athletes, parents, and athletic staff at Norman North High School.
Qualifications
- Background in cheerleading, coaching, or a closely related athletic discipline.
- Knowledge of injury care and prevention practices for student-athletes.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and mentoring abilities.
- Commitment to the safety, character, and academic success of every student.
- Availability for practices, games, and activities throughout the season.
- Ability to meet the certification and clearance requirements set by Norman Public Schools.
