On-Site Interpreting (OSI) Opportunity – Pierce County

Prisma International, Inc. is seeking an On-Site Interpreter in Tacoma, Washington, to support communication needs in Pierce County.

What This Role Involves

• Providing real-time interpretation services for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP) in various settings, including healthcare, legal, and social services.
• Assisting in the translation of written documents as needed.
• Collaborating with healthcare providers, legal professionals, and social service agencies to ensure accurate and effective communication.
• Adhering to confidentiality and privacy standards when handling sensitive information.
• Assisting clients in navigating complex systems and processes.

What You'll Do

• Conduct on-site interpreting sessions to facilitate communication between clients and service providers.
• Translate spoken language in real-time to ensure clear and accurate communication.
• Support clients in understanding and completing forms, documents, and other written materials.
• Provide cultural and linguistic assistance to ensure effective communication and understanding.
• Document interpreting sessions and maintain accurate records.

Who We're Looking For

• Native fluency in both English and another language, such as Spanish, Vietnamese, or Mandarin.
• Proven experience in on-site interpreting, particularly in healthcare, legal, and social service settings.
• A strong understanding of cultural nuances and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
