ICF is hiring for an On-Call Wildlife Biologist: Sacramento Valley — a full-time position based in Sacramento County. This role combines field ecology surveys with environmental compliance support, protecting special-status species and natural communities while ensuring construction projects meet regulatory standards across the Sacramento Valley.

About the Role

As an On-Call Wildlife Biologist for ICF, you'll conduct field surveys to locate and document sensitive species and habitats, manage preconstruction environmental clearance, and monitor active construction sites for compliance. Your work directly protects California's unique ecosystems while supporting development projects across the Sacramento Valley region.

What You'll Do

• Design and execute field surveys for special-status species, native plant communities, and sensitive habitats
• Walk transects and map habitat boundaries through systematic observation and documentation
• Identify wildlife species by sight, sound, and behavioral observation
• Perform trapping, live-capture, and specimen collection surveys as project scope requires
• Conduct preconstruction clearance surveys and deliver environmental awareness protocols to construction teams
• Monitor construction sites to verify compliance with environmental regulations
• Record field observations accurately and prepare technical survey reports

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in biology, wildlife biology, ecology, environmental science, or related field
• Demonstrated experience conducting field surveys and identifying California wildlife species
• Ability to traverse varied terrain and work independently in outdoor environments
• Knowledge of California's special-status species and habitat assessment practices
• Strong data documentation and report writing capabilities
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Flexibility to adjust work schedule based on project requirements
