Role Overview
At constellr, we are revolutionizing Earth observation through our thermal satellite constellation. As a Mission Planning Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the software systems that enable automated and scalable mission planning for our growing satellite constellation. This position is based in Munich, Germany, with a hybrid work model allowing for flexibility between office and remote work.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Build core mission planning services and algorithms to power mission planning applications for our expanding satellite constellation
- Shape the architecture and design of mission planning systems to ensure scalability, reliability, and long-term operability
- Run, monitor, and maintain mission planning systems in a fast-scaling environment
- Collaborate across operations and product teams to define how missions are planned and executed at scale
- Support the transition from manual workflows to a unified, automated platform that directly drives satellite command and imaging execution
Skills & Qualifications
- Expertise in software engineering with a focus on mission planning systems
- Experience with cloud-based services and infrastructure for scalable applications
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system design principles
- Knowledge of satellite operations and space mission planning is beneficial
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams
