Medical Assistant – GI

Saint Luke's Physician Group is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant for our gastroenterology clinic in North Kansas City. If you're a skilled communicator who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment—managing both patient-facing responsibilities and administrative duties—we'd like to meet you.

About the Role

As a Medical Assistant in our GI practice, you'll balance clinical and administrative responsibilities. Your day will split between rooming patients for procedures and evaluations (approximately 30%) and managing clinic operations from the phones (approximately 70%). You'll be essential to keeping our gastroenterology clinic running smoothly while delivering excellent patient care.

What You'll Do

• Process and manage insurance prior authorizations
• Handle medication refill requests and coordinate with pharmacies
• Schedule appointments and manage the clinic calendar
• Process referral requests and maintain communication with referring providers
• Room patients for procedures and gather clinical information
• Respond to patient inquiries and address healthcare concerns
• Support the clinical team and maintain accurate patient documentation

What We're Looking For

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Professional experience working with insurance companies and authorization processes
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a busy clinic setting
• Ability to build rapport with patients and handle sensitive healthcare conversations
• Medical Assistant certification or equivalent clinical experience (preferred)
• Detail-oriented approach to administrative and clinical tasks
• Collaborative team player in a healthcare environment
