Philadelphia Marriott Downtown is seeking a full-time Senior Banquet Manager to lead banquet operations at one of Center City's premier convention hotels, located at 1201 Market St in the heart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
About the Role
As Senior Banquet Manager, you will own the end-to-end execution of banquet and event services — from pre-event coordination through breakdown — ensuring every meeting, gala, and social celebration exceeds guest expectations. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
What You'll Do
- Direct banquet staff scheduling, briefings, and on-floor supervision during setup, service, and teardown of events of all sizes
- Partner with Event Sales and Convention Services managers to review Banquet Event Orders and translate client requirements into flawless execution
- Maintain Marriott service standards across food and beverage presentation, room configuration, and audiovisual coordination
- Monitor labor costs, supply usage, and event timelines to meet departmental productivity goals
- Coach, develop, and performance-manage a team of banquet captains and servers, fostering a culture of accountability and hospitality excellence
- Conduct pre- and post-event walkthroughs, documenting outcomes and communicating opportunities for continuous improvement
- Respond to on-site client needs in real time, resolving service challenges with professionalism and urgency
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, TIPS/alcohol service, and Marriott brand guidelines
What We're Looking For
- Proven leadership experience in banquet, catering, or food and beverage operations within a hotel or large event venue
- Strong knowledge of banquet setups, catering logistics, and event flow management
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate large, diverse service teams in a high-volume environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-first mindset
- Proficiency with banquet management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as event schedules require
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is a plus
