Maintenance Technician-Cortland at the Village

About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician at Cortland's Smyrna location, you'll be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of apartment community facilities and resident units. You'll respond to maintenance requests, perform both routine preventative maintenance and emergency repairs, and ensure all community systems and amenities are functioning properly. This full-time position offers hands-on work in a dynamic residential environment where your technical skills directly impact resident satisfaction and community standards.

What You'll Do

• Respond to maintenance requests from residents and management in a timely manner
• Perform routine maintenance and preventative inspections on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and structural components
• Execute repairs on residential units, common areas, and community amenities
• Maintain detailed work orders and track maintenance activities
• Identify potential issues and report safety hazards or code violations
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors when specialized services are required
• Keep maintenance areas organized, stocked with supplies, and safely stored

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in apartment, multifamily, or residential property maintenance
• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools
• Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or appliance repair (or willingness to develop these skills)
• Ability to diagnose problems and implement effective solutions
• Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with residents
• Physical capability to perform manual labor, including lifting and climbing
• Reliability, attention to safety protocols, and a commitment to quality work
