Join MidPen Housing as a Janitor serving our residential communities in Oakland, Alameda County. This is a full-time position supporting our mission to provide safe, affordable housing and foster stable, dignified communities.
About the Role
As a Janitor at MidPen Housing, you'll play a vital role in maintaining clean, healthy residential environments across our properties. Your work directly supports our residents' quality of life and our organization's commitment to community well-being. This position is based at our Foon Lok East and Foon Lok West properties in Oakland.
What You'll Do
- Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks in residential common areas, including hallways, lobbies, stairwells, and community spaces
- Maintain building grounds and exterior areas to safety standards
- Clean and sanitize surfaces, fixtures, and floors using appropriate equipment and materials
- Remove and manage trash and recyclables following waste protocols
- Report maintenance issues and safety concerns to building management
- Respond to immediate cleaning needs and emergency situations
- Maintain organized supply and equipment storage areas
- Follow all company safety policies and building procedures
What We're Looking For
- Experience in janitorial or building maintenance work (preferred)
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Physical capability to perform cleaning tasks, lift equipment, and stand for extended periods
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with residents and staff
- Reliability and consistency in attendance and performance
- Willingness to follow safety protocols and use cleaning equipment properly
- Valid driver's license may be required
