Lighthouse is seeking a dedicated Case Manager for our Runaway and Homeless Youth program in Royal Oak, Oakland County. As a full-time member of our team, you'll provide direct support and advocacy to young people in crisis, helping them navigate toward safety, stability, and independence.
About the Role
This is a hands-on position where you'll work directly with youth experiencing homelessness or housing instability. You'll serve as a trusted guide, connecting vulnerable young people with essential resources and building the relationships that make real change possible. Your work matters in one of Michigan's most underserved communities.
What You'll Do
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of each youth's immediate needs, background, and goals
- Develop and implement individualized case plans focused on housing, education, employment, and life stability
- Provide crisis intervention and ongoing support to youth in emergency or high-risk situations
- Connect young people with community resources including shelter, mental health services, medical care, and educational programs
- Maintain detailed case documentation and progress notes in compliance with program standards
- Advocate for clients' rights and coordinate with schools, employers, social services, and other community partners
- Build and maintain strong relationships that foster trust and engagement with participants
- Support youth in developing practical life skills and work toward self-sufficiency
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated commitment to serving vulnerable populations, particularly youth
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities
- Compassion, patience, and resilience in challenging situations
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries while building meaningful relationships
- Experience in social services, case management, or youth work is a plus
