About the Role
As an Instructional Assistant for ELL programs at North High School, you'll work alongside classroom teachers and ELL specialists to create inclusive, engaging learning experiences for multilingual students. You'll provide direct instructional support within and outside the classroom, helping students navigate academic content, build English language skills, and succeed in their courses.
What You'll Do
- Assist teachers in delivering differentiated instruction tailored to students' English proficiency levels and academic needs
- Provide one-on-one and small-group support to reinforce vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and writing skills
- Monitor student progress and document learning outcomes to inform instructional planning
- Create and adapt classroom materials, visual aids, and resources that support language acquisition
- Help facilitate communication between students, families, and school staff, including translating documents when appropriate
- Maintain a supportive, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and can take academic risks
- Collaborate with fellow instructional support staff and teachers to coordinate program initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated experience or proven ability to work effectively with English Language Learners
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with students at varying proficiency levels
- Ability to follow lesson plans, adapt instruction, and work collaboratively within a team
- Bilingual capability or fluency in a language commonly spoken by our ELL population is valued
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in education or linguistics is a plus
- Commitment to equity, cultural responsiveness, and student success

Position Details
Compensation: Starting hourly rate of $17.11–$17.89, based on qualifications and relevant experience, under the Education Support Professional salary schedule.
