Industrial Water/Wastewater Project Manager

CDM Smith seeks an experienced Industrial Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead complex infrastructure projects in Iowa City, Johnson County. This full-time role offers the opportunity to drive meaningful water and wastewater treatment initiatives that serve communities and industries across the region.

About the Role

As Industrial Water/Wastewater Project Manager, you'll oversee the planning, design, and execution of water treatment and wastewater management projects. You'll be responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing budgets and timelines, interfacing with clients and regulatory agencies, and ensuring projects meet environmental and operational standards. This role combines technical expertise with strategic oversight to deliver solutions that protect public health and environmental quality.

What You'll Do

• Manage project scope, schedule, and budget from initial planning through completion and commissioning
• Lead and coordinate engineering, construction, and operations teams across water and wastewater infrastructure projects
• Communicate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to align project goals and compliance requirements
• Monitor project performance against established metrics and implement corrective actions as needed
• Review technical designs, specifications, and construction documents for feasibility and regulatory adherence
• Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field (PE licensure preferred)
• 5+ years of project management experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, or industrial water systems
• Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure projects and cross-functional teams
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, treatment technologies, and industry standards
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership capabilities
• Proficiency with project management tools and MS Office Suite
