Head of Quality Assurance

Cytel is seeking a Head of Quality Assurance for a full-time leadership role in Des Moines, Polk County. This is a senior position overseeing the company's global quality management strategy, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. You'll partner with executive leadership to shape quality standards and drive continuous improvement across the organization.

About the Role

As Head of Quality Assurance at Cytel, you'll develop and execute a comprehensive quality strategy that supports business growth while maintaining rigorous regulatory compliance. You'll own the entire quality management function—from system design and process improvement to team leadership and external stakeholder relationships. This role requires strategic thinking, deep technical expertise, and the ability to influence change across the entire organization.

What You'll Do

• Develop and implement Cytel's global quality assurance strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements
• Oversee the Quality Management System, establishing documentation, processes, and controls that drive operational excellence
• Lead and represent Cytel during regulatory inspections, sponsor audits, and compliance reviews
• Champion modernization initiatives, including adoption of digital quality tools, automation platforms, and AI-enabled solutions
• Identify process gaps and implement improvements that enhance consistency, reduce defects, and increase efficiency
• Define quality metrics and key performance indicators that measure success and guide continuous enhancement
• Build and mentor a high-performing quality assurance team with deep technical expertise
• Stay informed on industry regulations, standards, and best practices to maintain Cytel's competitive position

What We're Looking For

• Senior-level experience leading quality assurance functions, preferably in a regulated industry environment
• Mastery of quality management systems, regulatory frameworks, and audit processes
• Demonstrated success developing and executing enterprise-scale QA strategies
• Strong background in quality automation, digital transformation, and modern quality technologies
• Proven leadership capability with the ability to drive organizational change and influence executives
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for regulatory and stakeholder engagement
• Bachelor's degree in quality management, engineering, or related field; relevant certifications a plus
