Position Summary
At sumup, the Billing and Subscriptions team is at the core of how our merchants manage their payments and grow with our products. We are responsible for the billing engine, merchant wallet, and subscription experiences that power millions of transactions across 37 markets. Currently, we're in a phase of rebuilding and expanding this foundational infrastructure to support new sales models, market expansions, and financial integrations. This role is pivotal in shaping how small businesses experience SumUp.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services and frontend interfaces across our billing, contracts, and merchant wallet products
- Contribute to the refactoring of key billing components to improve reliability, data security, and alignment with our wider payments platform
- Support the expansion of our billing and wallet capabilities into new markets, ensuring localisation requirements are met
- Participate in our weekly support rotation, handling incoming customer queries and helping maintain platform stability
- Collaborate closely with senior engineers and product managers to deliver features end-to-end, from implementation through to production
Skills & Qualifications
- Solid experience building backend services and frontend interfaces
- Proficiency in refactoring code for reliability and security
- Experience with billing systems and subscription management
- Knowledge of localisation requirements and market expansion strategies
