Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician – Aquatics & Water Features to join our team in Highland Park, Dallas. In this full-time position, you'll be the skilled professional behind the fountains, ponds, and water features that make our gardens a world-class destination for the region's visitors and landscape enthusiasts.
About the Role
As a Facilities Maintenance Technician focused on aquatic systems, you're the backbone of our water infrastructure. Your expertise keeps our fountains flowing, our ponds healthy, and our water features operational year-round. This is hands-on technical work that's central to the guest experience—your maintenance efforts are visible, valued, and appreciated daily by thousands of visitors.
What You'll Do
- Inspect, maintain, and repair fountains, pond systems, and recirculation equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in aquatic installations
- Perform routine servicing including filter cleaning, pump maintenance, and system checks
- Monitor and manage water chemistry and filtration systems
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime
- Work safely outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Collaborate with the broader Facilities team on campus-wide maintenance initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Experience maintaining pumps, motors, filtration systems, or similar mechanical equipment
- Comfort troubleshooting and solving technical problems independently
- Willingness to work outdoors and handle physical labor regularly
- Basic understanding of water systems or demonstrated ability to learn them quickly
- Reliable, safety-conscious approach to hands-on work
- Ability to follow maintenance protocols and documentation
