About the Role
Violence Intervention Program (VIP) was founded in 1984 by Black and Latina activists with a vision of violence prevention rooted in cultural wisdom and community healing. As a Facilitator, you'll work across VIP's citywide locations, supporting participants in restorative justice programming that centers dialogue, accountability, and restoration. This is skilled work that requires both technical expertise in group facilitation and genuine care for the communities you serve. The position is classified as full-time and exempt, with compensation of $32.97 per hour.
Your Responsibilities
- Facilitate group sessions and workshops using restorative justice principles and trauma-informed practices
- Build supportive relationships with program participants and guide them through healing and accountability processes
- Conduct one-on-one and small-group work addressing conflict, violence prevention, and community repair
- Document program activities and participant progress in accurate, timely records
- Collaborate with team members and partner organizations to strengthen community impact
- Respond to participant needs with cultural humility and problem-solving across diverse populations
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to engage across differences
- Experience facilitating groups, counseling, community organizing, or related work with diverse communities
- Understanding of or commitment to learning restorative justice and trauma-informed principles
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and emotional presence in difficult situations
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage documentation and reporting
- Lived or professional experience with communities impacted by violence is valued
