About the Role
As an External Benefits Advocate at OPOC.us, you'll be the trusted guide helping clients navigate benefit programs, understand their eligibility, and connect with the support they deserve. This role demands genuine compassion, strong communication skills, and a commitment to client success. You'll work collaboratively with our team to ensure every individual receives the advocacy and assistance they need to access available resources.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive benefit eligibility assessments and identify appropriate programs for clients
- Guide clients through application processes and help prepare required documentation
- Explain benefit options clearly, ensuring clients understand their choices and next steps
- Maintain accurate client records and track case progress and outcomes
- Collaborate with team members and partner agencies to coordinate services and resolve barriers
- Follow up with clients to confirm enrollment and provide ongoing advocacy support
- Stay current on benefit programs, eligibility requirements, and policy changes
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated empathy and genuine interest in helping others
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience valued
- Willingness to learn about benefit programs and systems
- Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented approach to work
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
