Equipment Operator ( water – sewer – drainage)

SMC Contracting is hiring a full-time Equipment Operator specializing in water, sewer, and drainage operations in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County. This full-time position offers the opportunity to join a veteran-owned construction company dedicated to advancing employee skills and maintaining steady employment. You'll work on residential and site construction projects across South Florida, operating essential equipment that keeps our community's water and drainage infrastructure strong.

What You'll Do

• Operate heavy construction equipment including excavators, backhoes, compactors, and loaders for water, sewer, and drainage projects
• Maintain equipment in proper working condition through routine inspection, cleaning, and preventive maintenance
• Follow safety protocols and site procedures to ensure a secure work environment for yourself and your team
• Communicate effectively with site supervisors and crew members to coordinate project activities and timelines
• Transport equipment to job sites and position it accurately for construction operations
• Complete daily equipment logs and report any mechanical issues or damage to management

What We're Looking For

• Valid operator's license and ability to pass background checks
• Proven experience operating heavy equipment in water, sewer, drainage, or related construction work
• Strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to equipment maintenance and care
• Ability to read technical drawings and understand site specifications
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced construction environment
• Reliability, strong work ethic, and punctuality
• Valid equipment operation certifications or licensing (preferred)
