Role Overview

As an Electron Microscopy Technologist, you'll operate and maintain sophisticated electron microscopy equipment to analyze material composition, structure, and properties. Your work directly supports quality assurance, product development, and operational excellence across ExxonMobil's upstream, product solutions, and manufacturing divisions. You'll generate precise analytical data that informs critical decisions on materials performance and process optimization.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Operate scanning electron microscopes (SEM) and related analytical instruments to examine material samples at microscopic and elemental levels
  • Prepare and mount samples according to established protocols, ensuring proper specimen integrity and analysis conditions
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret microscopy data; generate detailed technical reports documenting findings and observations
  • Perform routine calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on microscopy equipment to maintain peak performance
  • Collaborate with materials scientists, engineers, and quality teams to address analytical questions and support research initiatives
  • Document procedures, maintain equipment logs, and ensure compliance with laboratory safety and quality standards
