About the Role

This full‑time position reports to the facilities manager and works closely with vendors and internal teams to maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure. The technician helps keep the retail center operational by performing routine inspections, troubleshooting issues, and completing preventive maintenance tasks.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct regular inspections of HVAC, lighting, and plumbing systems to identify wear or malfunction.
  • Respond to work orders from tenants and property management, completing repairs in a timely manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as boilers, chillers, and elevators according to scheduled intervals.
  • Maintain accurate records of service activities, parts used, and labor hours in the CMMS.
  • Assist with life‑safety systems testing, including fire alarms and emergency lighting, to meet code requirements.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and oversee their work on site.
  • Help prepare the property for seasonal changes, including snow removal preparation and summer cooling readiness.
  • Follow all safety protocols and report hazards to maintain a secure workplace for staff and visitors.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in HVAC, electrical, or a related trade is preferred.
  • Proven experience performing facilities maintenance in a commercial, retail, or similar environment.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, with ability to read schematics and troubleshoot faults.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic computer skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving attitude and ability to prioritize multiple tasks under shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with tenants, vendors, and team members.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to reach the Spokane Valley Mall location.
