What This Role Involves
As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the engineering, maintenance, and advancement of all electrical systems and instrumentation infrastructure at our site. This includes designing solutions, troubleshooting complex electrical problems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting both ongoing operational needs and capital construction projects. You'll work directly with cross-functional teams to optimize system performance and reliability.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design and oversee electrical and instrumentation system upgrades, modifications, and maintenance activities
- Conduct inspections, testing, and diagnostics on electrical equipment and control systems to ensure safe and compliant operation
- Lead project execution from planning through commissioning, coordinating with contractors and internal teams
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize system uptime
- Ensure all electrical work meets national electrical codes and site-specific compliance requirements
- Document system configurations, specifications, and performance data for operational reference
- Collaborate with operations staff to identify improvements and resolve electrical or instrumentation issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, and industrial instrumentation
- Proven project management and technical leadership experience
- Familiarity with electrical codes and industrial safety standards
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed
