About the Role
As Director, MSL Lead for Oncology West, you'll shape how Sumitomo Pharma's oncology franchise connects with clinicians, builds trust, and delivers scientific value in your territory. Leading a team of medical science liaisons, you'll ensure our marketed oncology therapies and pipeline programs receive the clinical support and field intelligence they need to succeed in a competitive market.
What You'll Do
- Build and mentor a high-performing medical science liaison team focused on oncology in the Western region
- Develop and execute medical affairs strategies that strengthen relationships with key opinion leaders, oncologists, and healthcare providers
- Support clinical trial enrollment and patient access initiatives for oncology programs at all development stages
- Serve as a scientific resource and trusted advisor to healthcare professionals on marketed products and investigational assets
- Collaborate with medical, clinical, regulatory, and commercial teams to ensure consistent, compliant scientific communications
- Monitor competitive and market dynamics to inform strategy and identify opportunities for oncology programs
- Ensure adherence to medical affairs, regulatory, and ethical guidelines across all field activities
- Train and support the MSL team on scientific content, customer engagement, and professional development
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of pharmaceutical medical affairs, sales, clinical, or related healthcare experience
- 5+ years in a leadership or management role, preferably in medical science liaisons or oncology
- Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent advanced healthcare credential)
- Deep knowledge of oncology disease states, treatment landscapes, and clinical evidence
- Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams in regulated environments
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Strategic thinking and ability to translate business objectives into field-level tactics
- Compliance mindset and strong understanding of healthcare regulations and industry standards
