Position Summary
The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), a nonprofit organization founded in 1986, seeks a Deputy Director of National Policy and Campaign. CHIRLA is a California leader with national impact, comprised of diverse immigrant families and individuals who act as agents of social change to achieve freedom of mobility, full human rights, and true participatory democracy.
Core Duties
- Develop and implement national policy strategies in collaboration with the Executive Director and other senior leadership team members.
- Oversee and manage the organization's advocacy campaigns, ensuring alignment with CHIRLA’s mission and strategic goals.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, community leaders, and partners to advance policy agendas.
- Conduct research and analysis on immigration policies and trends to inform strategy development.
- Provide thought leadership through public speaking engagements, media interviews, and written communications.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in policy advocacy or related field with a focus on immigration issues.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing successful national policy strategies.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in public speaking and media engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with policymakers, community leaders, and partners.
