This isn't a typical analytics role—you'll be building the data foundation that powers decision-making across trading operations, processing facilities, and strategic planning in a fast-growing sustainability-focused business.

We're seeking an experienced Data Analyst who can bridge the gap between complex operational data and business impact. You'll work directly with cross-functional teams to turn messy, real-world datasets into reliable insights, then translate recurring needs into automated reporting infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of hands-on analysis, data engineering, and stakeholder partnership.

Responsibilities

• Turn complex business questions into actionable analysis by working directly with stakeholders to understand their needs, challenge assumptions, and deliver meaningful insights that drive decisions
• Build and maintain data transformations that convert raw operational data into clean, analysis-ready datasets in the cloud data warehouse
• Design reusable data models and clearly defined metrics that serve as a trusted source of truth across the organization
• Implement data quality checks and validation processes, proactively identifying inconsistencies and partnering with engineering to improve upstream data capture
• Develop dashboards, reports, and analytical datasets optimized for self-service analytics, progressively automating recurring analytical workflows
• Partner with Product, Operations, Finance, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable analytical solutions
• Maintain documentation for datasets, transformations, and metrics using modern analytics engineering tools
• Identify opportunities to improve analytical workflows through automation and AI-assisted analysis while maintaining control and understanding of underlying data

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in Data Analytics, Product Analytics, Business Analytics, or similar analytical roles with demonstrated ability to convert complex business questions into reliable insights and decisions
• Strong analytical and statistical thinking—you can identify trends, spot anomalies, define meaningful metrics, and work confidently with imperfect or incomplete data
• Advanced SQL skills including complex joins, aggregations, window functions, and analytical data modeling
• Proven experience with modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, or similar) building and maintaining clean datasets for analysis
• Experience with analytics engineering practices and tools such as dbt, including data modeling, automated testing, and documentation
• Strong proficiency with BI and visualization tools (Metabase, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or similar) focused on building clear, performant dashboards
• Business acumen with ability to quickly grasp complex, finance-driven operations—experience with financials, commodity trading, finance analytics, or accounting is a strong advantage
• Independent, structured, and pragmatic approach with strong ownership mentality and ability to communicate effectively across technical and business audiences
• Curiosity about AI-assisted analytics and modern cloud data workflows while maintaining rigorous understanding of underlying data
• German language skills and eligibility to work in Germany required for this Cologne-based position
