Community Based Mental Health Counselor (QMHP)

EMS is hiring a full-time Community Based Mental Health Counselor (QMHP) in Beach, Chesterfield County to deliver therapeutic services and skills training in clients' homes and communities throughout the greater Richmond area. Join a dedicated team of mental health professionals serving the Tri-Cities region since 2005.

The Opportunity

In this position, you'll deliver evidence-based mental health counseling and skill-building interventions directly within clients' homes and natural community settings. You'll work across the greater Richmond area, including Chesterfield, Henrico, Richmond City, Petersburg, Hanover, and surrounding areas. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for clients receiving in-home mental health services
• Provide therapeutic counseling, crisis support, and evidence-based interventions in clients' homes and community environments
• Teach mental health coping strategies, life skills, and wellness techniques to promote client independence and resilience
• Maintain detailed clinical documentation and progress notes in compliance with Virginia mental health standards
• Collaborate with treatment teams, families, and community providers to coordinate comprehensive care
• Monitor client progress, adjust treatment approaches as needed, and prepare discharge planning when appropriate

Qualifications

• Active Virginia QMHP (Qualified Mental Health Professional) credential or equivalent licensure
• Knowledge of evidence-based mental health treatment modalities and skill-building techniques
• Ability to work independently in diverse home and community settings with a varied caseload
• Strong communication, clinical documentation, and professional judgment skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel throughout the service area
• Commitment to confidentiality, ethical practice, and client-centered care
