Clinical Assistant Professor

The University of Florida is hiring a Clinical Assistant Professor for a full‑time position based in Gainesville, Alachua County.

About the Role

This faculty appointment blends clinical practice with teaching responsibilities within the Department of Urology.

What You'll Do

• Provide direct patient care for urinary stone disease in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Perform endoscopic, percutaneous, laparoscopic, and robotic surgical procedures related to stone management.
• Supervise and educate resident physicians and medical students during clinical rotations.
• Contribute to didactic lectures, case conferences, and curriculum development for urology training programs.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and clinical committees.
• Maintain an active Florida medical license and board certification/eligibility in urology.
• Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record and ensure timely billing coding.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including radiology and nephrology, to optimize stone prevention strategies.
• Engage in quality assurance projects and peer review to enhance patient safety and outcomes.

What We're Looking For

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or equivalent degree.
• Board certification in urology, or eligibility for certification.
• Hold an active Florida medical license.
• Demonstrated expertise in ureteroscopy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, laparoscopic, and robotic stone surgery.
• Commitment to academic medicine, including teaching and mentorship of trainees.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with patients, learners, and colleagues.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record platforms and clinical documentation best practices.
• Ability to teach procedural skills using simulation and hands‑on workshops.
• Commitment to maintaining continuing medical education and staying current with endoscopic technology advances.
