About the Role
As head of the legal team, you'll serve as the trusted legal advisor to executive leadership, providing strategic counsel that advances business objectives while managing legal risk. You'll shape the company's legal direction, ensuring compliance and integrity across all jurisdictions and stakeholder relationships. This role requires both deep legal expertise and genuine business acumen—the ability to translate complex legal issues into actionable strategic recommendations.
What You'll Do
- Lead all aspects of corporate legal affairs and the legal team
- Advise the CEO and executive leadership on business strategy and legal implications
- Oversee corporate governance and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions
- Direct contract negotiation, drafting, and execution organization-wide
- Manage litigation and dispute resolution
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate legal considerations into business decisions
- Build, mentor, and develop the legal function as the company grows
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor and active California bar membership (or equivalent US jurisdiction)
- Substantial experience as General Counsel, in-house counsel, or senior law firm attorney
- Demonstrated expertise in corporate governance, contracts, and regulatory compliance
- Proven ability to advise C-suite executives and board-level stakeholders
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience building and scaling a legal function
- Strategic business judgment combined with legal acumen
