City-Wide Special Education Teacher, Ellen P. Hubbell

Join Bristol Public Schools as a full-time Special Education Teacher at Ellen P. Hubbell School. We're seeking a certified educator to provide exceptional instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in a collaborative school environment.

About the Role

As a City-Wide Special Education Teacher, you'll develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique strengths and needs. Working with students across multiple grade levels and disability categories, you'll create engaging, inclusive learning experiences that promote academic and social-emotional growth. You'll partner closely with general education teachers, families, and school support staff to ensure every student receives the specialized instruction and accommodations they require to succeed.

What You'll Do

• Design and deliver differentiated instruction aligned with IEP goals and state standards
• Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate special education supports into classroom and school-wide activities
• Communicate regularly with families and participate in IEP development and review meetings
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and records in compliance with special education regulations
• Create a supportive, welcoming classroom environment that celebrates student individuality and achievement
• Contribute to professional learning communities and school improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Valid Connecticut teaching certification with endorsement in Special Education
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field
• Demonstrated experience working with students with disabilities in school settings
• Strong understanding of special education law, IEP development, and least restrictive environment principles
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and meeting all learners where they are
• Ability to manage behavior, build relationships, and create positive learning spaces
