About the Role

As an Applied Scientist on Amazon's Brand Protection Machine Learning team, you will design, train, and deploy models that detect and prevent fraud, counterfeiting, and brand abuse before they reach customers. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Seattle, King County, where you will partner with engineers, product managers, and fellow scientists to turn research into production systems that operate at Amazon scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine machine learning models that identify counterfeit listings, fraudulent behavior, and threats to brand integrity.
• Translate ambiguous business problems into well-defined scientific questions and measurable solutions.
• Build, evaluate, and ship production-grade models, then monitor and iterate on their performance over time.
• Collaborate across engineering and product teams to embed your work into customer-facing protection systems.
• Share findings through clear documentation, peer review, and contributions to the broader scientific community.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in computer science, machine learning, statistics, or a closely related quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning or deep learning models in real-world settings.
• Proficiency in a programming language such as Python, along with common ML frameworks and tooling.
• Strong grounding in statistics, experimentation, and model evaluation.
• The ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
