About the Role
As a Category Buyer I or II specializing in Solar Electrical Balance of System, you will serve as the central point of contact for the full purchasing life cycle of project materials. Based in Prairie Rose, Cass County, this full-time, on-site position blends strategic sourcing with hands-on execution, ensuring critical electrical components arrive on schedule and at the best total cost of ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end purchasing cycle for solar electrical balance of system materials, from demand planning through final delivery.
- Create, issue, and manage purchase orders to keep procurement aligned with project timelines.
- Coordinate transportation and logistics for materials moving to and from job sites.
- Negotiate and execute supplier agreements that protect quality, cost, and delivery commitments.
- Expedite shipments and proactively follow up on open orders to prevent project delays.
- Investigate and resolve material quality concerns and invoice discrepancies with vendors.
- Drive sourcing decisions that secure materials at the lowest total cost while maintaining performance standards.
Qualifications
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain, ideally within construction, energy, or solar projects.
- Working knowledge of purchase order processes, supplier negotiation, and contract execution.
- Familiarity with logistics and transportation planning for jobsite material delivery.
- Strong problem-solving skills for resolving quality and invoicing issues.
- Ability to balance cost, schedule, and quality across competing priorities.
- Willingness to work on-site in Prairie Rose, Cass County (this role is not remote).
