Role Overview

You'll take ownership of SEC's business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives, working to identify organizational vulnerabilities and design robust recovery frameworks. As a Business Continuity Engineer, you'll partner across departments to embed preparedness into our operational culture, testing our ability to sustain critical functions during unplanned events and ensuring everyone understands their role in our response protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery plans tailored to SEC's operational environment
  • Perform risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify potential threats and recovery priorities
  • Design recovery strategies, backup procedures, and alternative workflows for critical systems and processes
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate continuity drills and tabletop exercises to validate plan readiness
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, procedures, and playbooks for continuity teams
  • Coordinate with IT, facilities, and operational leaders to integrate continuity measures into daily practices
  • Track regulatory and industry standards to keep plans aligned with compliance requirements

What You Bring

  • Hands-on experience in business continuity planning, disaster recovery design, or operational risk management
  • Professional certification such as CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional) or recognized equivalent
  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to evaluate complex operational scenarios and dependencies
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and the ability to influence teams at every level
  • Familiarity with continuity planning methodologies, testing frameworks, and documentation tools
  • Working knowledge of compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements in your industry
  • Self-directed approach to managing multiple workstreams and tight deadlines
