About the Role
As the Assistant Varsity Field Hockey Coach for the Cranbrook Upper School, you will partner with the head coach to lead training sessions, support competitive play, and help shape a positive, disciplined team culture. This is an in-person role based in Bloomfield, Oakland County — it is not a remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and running practices, drills, and skill development for varsity field hockey athletes.
- Support game-day strategy, lineups, and sideline coaching alongside the head coach.
- Foster sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth among Upper School students.
- Promote player safety and reinforce proper technique and conditioning.
- Help organize equipment, schedules, and team communications throughout the season.
Qualifications
- Background in field hockey as a coach, player, or both, with a strong understanding of the sport.
- Ability to motivate, instruct, and connect with secondary school student-athletes.
- Commitment to the academic and athletic standards of an independent school environment.
- Availability to work a full-time schedule, including practices and competitions on the Bloomfield campus.
