About the Role
As an Assistant State's Attorney II, you'll work directly under the supervision of the State's Attorney, taking on increasingly complex legal responsibilities within the County of Burleigh's prosecution office. What You'll Do
- Prosecute criminal cases at various levels, from misdemeanor through felony matters
- Prepare and file legal motions, briefs, and court documents
- Represent the interests of the State in court proceedings
- Conduct investigations and interview witnesses and victims
- Negotiate plea agreements and settlements when appropriate
- Attend court hearings, trials, and related legal proceedings
- Maintain detailed case files and legal documentation
- Collaborate with law enforcement, investigators, and other county offices
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor degree and active license to practice law in North Dakota
- Professional legal experience in criminal prosecution or related practice
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously
- Commitment to the ethical practice of law and public service
- Familiarity with North Dakota criminal statutes and procedures
