The University of North Carolina at Charlotte seeks an accomplished scholar to join the Department of Psychological Science as an Assistant Professor in Cognitive Psychology and Cognitive Science. This full-time faculty position offers the opportunity to contribute to both cognitive science education and research while working with students across multiple degree programs.
Position Summary
The Department of Psychological Science at UNC Charlotte invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Cognitive Psychology and Cognitive Science. This role carries joint responsibilities for teaching and research within a collegial academic department. The successful candidate will contribute to a comprehensive set of cognitive science and psychology programs, including a B.S. in Psychology, an interdisciplinary undergraduate minor in Cognitive Science, a graduate certificate in Cognitive Science, and graduate degree offerings.
Your Responsibilities
- Teach introductory and advanced courses in cognitive psychology and cognitive science at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Develop and direct an active, original research program in cognitive psychology or cognitive science
- Mentor and supervise graduate and undergraduate student researchers
- Advise students pursuing the cognitive science minor, certificate, and graduate programs
- Participate actively in departmental committees, curriculum development, and professional service activities
- Contribute to interdisciplinary cognitive science initiatives and collaborations
Who We're Looking For
- Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or a related field
- Demonstrated research background or clear research agenda in cognitive psychology or cognitive science
- Strong commitment to teaching excellence at multiple educational levels
- Experience mentoring students in research and academic development
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary departments and programs
- Commitment to fostering inclusive teaching practices and student success
