Sumter School District is hiring a full-time Assistant Girls Basketball Coach at Ebenezer Middle School. Help shape young athletes' skills and character as part of our competitive girls basketball program in South Carolina.
About the Role
This full-time Assistant Girls Basketball Coach position at Ebenezer Middle School offers the opportunity to mentor student-athletes while working alongside an experienced coaching staff. You'll contribute to building a strong girls basketball program within Sumter School District while developing skills both on and off the court.
What You'll Do
- Design and lead basketball practice sessions emphasizing fundamental skills, tactical strategy, and athletic conditioning
- Conduct position-specific drills and training focused on girls' basketball techniques and game situations
- Support game preparation, including scouting reports and competitive analysis
- Coordinate tryouts and team roster management for the girls basketball program
- Track player academic standing and athletic eligibility compliance
- Enforce team standards, policies, and expectations for student-athletes
- Accompany the team to competitions and tournaments throughout the season
- Contribute to equipment maintenance and practice facility upkeep
What We're Looking For
- Five or more years of coaching experience, particularly in basketball
- South Carolina educator certification or the ability to obtain it
- In-depth understanding of girls' basketball fundamentals, strategy, and player development
- Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities with middle-school students
- Dedication to athlete safety, wellbeing, and positive youth development
- Ability to collaborate effectively with head coaches and athletic department leadership
