Role Overview

The Assistant Director for Program Operations oversees the administrative and operational infrastructure that supports groundbreaking research across the Energy & Photon Sciences Directorate. You'll ensure seamless program execution, resource optimization, and cross-functional coordination that allows research teams to focus on advancing fundamental and applied science in chemistry, materials science, condensed matter physics, and nanoscience. Your strategic leadership enables scientists to conduct atomic and molecular-scale research that drives innovation and discovery.

Core Duties

• Manage day-to-day program operations and coordinate research initiatives across the directorate
• Oversee budgets, resource allocation, and financial planning for program execution
• Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices
• Coordinate with research leadership, scientific teams, and laboratory administration to align operations with mission objectives
• Monitor program performance, track key metrics, and drive continuous improvement
