About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Artisan to manage all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning infrastructure at our Johannesburg hospital. You will ensure reliable climate control across patient wards, operating theatres, diagnostic areas, and support facilities, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. This is a hands-on technical position combining preventive maintenance, planned servicing, and new equipment installations to meet the rigorous operational demands of a modern acute-care hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and servicing of HVAC equipment throughout the hospital
• Install, configure, and commission new heating and cooling systems and components
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in air handling units, refrigeration systems, and ductwork networks
• Maintain detailed service records and equipment maintenance logs for compliance and performance tracking
• Respond promptly to urgent breakdowns to minimise operational disruption and maintain patient comfort
• Work collaboratively with the Engineering team to optimise system performance and energy efficiency

Who We're Looking For

• Qualified HVAC technician with demonstrated experience in healthcare or large commercial facility maintenance
• Sound technical knowledge of air conditioning systems, refrigeration principles, and mechanical installation
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
• Strong practical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Current driver's licence and reliable access to transport
• Commitment to strict health, safety, and infection control standards in a regulated healthcare environment
