Celerity Consulting Group is hiring a GIS Specialist focused on utility mapping, data quality assurance, and data acceptance testing across the United States. In this full-time role, you'll take on critical responsibilities for validating and managing geospatial asset data for electric utilities, working to transform complex datasets into reliable intelligence that drives operational outcomes.
About the Role
This position centers on geospatial editing, asset data validation, and quality assurance for electric utility systems. You'll play an instrumental part in executing data acceptance testing workflows that consolidate and validate datasets sourced from multiple systems—including GIS databases, ERP platforms, engineering records, and field-collected information. Your work will ensure that integrated utility asset data meets established acceptance standards, quality benchmarks, and program objectives. This is a detail-intensive role suited to someone who values accuracy, process discipline, and systematic validation of high-stakes information.
What You'll Do
- Perform GIS editing, spatial data remediation, and attribute maintenance for electric utility infrastructure assets
- Execute data acceptance testing protocols on consolidated datasets, validating spatial accuracy and attribute alignment across disparate source systems
- Apply standardized quality assurance and quality control procedures to confirm data meets defined criteria or to identify rejection reasons
- Conduct statistically sound sampling and systematic validation to assess overall dataset integrity and quality metrics
- Document defects, inconsistencies, and system misalignments discovered during conflation and integration processes
- Track productivity metrics, cycle times, and task complexity; maintain records of throughput and performance benchmarks
- Validate field-sourced, legacy, and third-party data before system ingestion and platform integration
- Investigate root causes of data quality issues and coordinate resolution with program teams, field staff, and data providers
- Contribute to process refinement initiatives, workflow documentation, and quality improvement recommendations
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, or closely related field
- Three to five years of professional GIS experience in mapping, data management, or asset-focused workflows
- Hands-on proficiency with enterprise GIS platforms—Esri experience preferred—and spatial data editing techniques
- Demonstrated experience in structured QA/QC environments or data validation frameworks
- Strong analytical problem-solving abilities and commitment to data accuracy and precision
- Organizational discipline to manage high-volume production workloads while maintaining consistent quality standards
- Clear communication and collaborative skills for working across program, quality, engineering, and field teams
