North Slope Borough School District is hiring a dedicated coach for the Added Duty Contract: Battle of the Books, a full-time, on-site role supporting students across our communities in the United States. If you enjoy mentoring young readers and fostering academic teamwork, this opportunity is for you.
About the Role
As the Battle of the Books coach under this Added Duty Contract with North Slope Borough School District, you will lead and support student participants throughout the program. The term of this position is governed by the activity schedule and may be prorated accordingly.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain clear, consistent communication with student participants, their parents, and school administrators.
- Model strong character by upholding a high standard of personal conduct.
- Apply and reinforce established safety practices during all activities.
- Learn, understand, and comply with NSBSD policies as well as any guidelines specific to the activity.
- Conduct the yearly review of the Coaches' Handbook and the Parent and Student Handbook.
- Help ensure the program runs smoothly and serves the best interests of every participant.

- A genuine commitment to student development and academic enrichment.
- Willingness to follow and enforce district and activity-specific policies and safety procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with students, families, and staff.
