FACILITIES SERVICES MANAGER - PLANT & FOOD RESEARCH - KERIKERI, NORTHLAND

The Opportunity

Plant & Food Research is seeking a dynamic Facilities Services Manager to lead and coordinate a team that ensures our science campus remains a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment. This role is based in Kerikeri, Northland, as a full-time position with the possibility of job-sharing 38 hours per week.

• Lead, coordinate, and improve operations on a dynamic science campus
• Create a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for world-class research
• Manage facilities to support scientific activities and staff wellbeing
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies to minimize downtime

Responsibilities

The Facilities Services Manager will be responsible for:

• Overseeing the day-to-day operations of facilities services
• Managing a team of facility staff, ensuring effective performance and development
• Coordinating with external contractors to maintain building and equipment
• Developing and maintaining safety protocols and emergency response plans
• Collaborating with research teams to understand their needs and support them effectively

Skills & Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• A degree or significant experience in facilities management, engineering, or a related field
• Demonstrated leadership and coordination skills in managing teams and projects
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Experience in facility maintenance, operations, and asset management
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
