Position Summary

The Chief Officer will lead the Deck department and act as the designated Safety Officer for safe and efficient cargo and ballast handling on vessels operating in Singapore (nationwide) (nationwide) waters and international routes. This role involves taking charge in the Master's absence, maintaining deck maintenance records, ensuring environmental and safety standards, and supervising crew operations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Taking charge of the vessel in the Master’s absence
• Maintaining accurate deck maintenance records
• Ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations
• Supervising cargo handling, loading, and unloading operations
• Managing ballast water operations to ensure safe and efficient vessel operation
• Performing regular inspections of deck equipment and reporting any issues
• Leading the Deck department in maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency

Requirements

• Certified Chief Officer (Deck) with valid STCW certification
• Proven experience in leading the Deck department on merchant vessels
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and safety protocols
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Familiarity with vessel operations in Singapore (nationwide) (nationwide) waters and international routes
