This Lab Technologist/Technician Microbiology position centers on hands-on laboratory work that detects and characterizes microorganisms from clinical samples. Responsibilities

• Process and culture clinical specimens to isolate bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms of medical interest.
• Perform organism identification using morphological, biochemical, and molecular methods standard to clinical microbiology.
• Conduct antimicrobial susceptibility testing and interpret results according to accepted guidelines.
• Record findings accurately in the laboratory information system and prepare clear reports for the care team.
• Perform daily quality-control checks, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting to keep testing reliable.
• Follow established biosafety practices, infection-control protocols, and laboratory regulations at every step.
• Participate in proficiency testing, inventory management of media and reagents, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent preparation in medical laboratory science, microbiology, or a closely related life-science discipline suitable for technologist or technician work.
• Current certification or eligibility as a medical laboratory technologist/technician (for example ASCP or equivalent) preferred for Microbiology specialty practice.
• Solid working knowledge of clinical microbiology procedures, media selection, incubation conditions, and organism identification algorithms.
• Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work accurately under time pressure.
• Comfort with laboratory information systems, standard laboratory equipment, and basic computer applications.
• Commitment to ongoing learning, documentation excellence, and collaborative communication with peers and physicians.
