Your Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in field surveys to track wildlife numbers, distribution, and signs of illness or stress in habitats near Lincoln, Nebraska.
• Gather and process samples such as tissue, blood, or environmental materials for wildlife health diagnostics and pathogen screening.
• Interpret collected data using scientific methods and share insights that inform SON’s Temporary Wildlife Conservation Biologist II/Wildlife Health Conservation Biologist program activities.
• Coordinate with colleagues, agencies, and community partners on joint efforts to manage wildlife health threats.
• Maintain accurate records, draft technical reports, and recommend improvements for conservation and health protocols.
• Support seasonal or project-related tasks that advance overall wildlife protection goals during the temporary assignment.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s or higher degree in wildlife biology, zoology, environmental science, or related discipline commonly expected for Temporary Wildlife Conservation Biologist II/Wildlife Health Conservation Biologist roles.
• Hands-on experience with wildlife field studies, health assessments, or conservation biology, ideally including intermediate-level biologist responsibilities.
