Lead Electrical Engineer, Deployment Engineering

Fluidstack is hiring a Lead Electrical Engineer, Deployment Engineering to join our remote team based in Austin, TX. This is a full-time opportunity to own the electrical commissioning and operational reliability of critical power infrastructure at scale.

Position Summary

The electrical power systems that enable AI compute workloads demand both meticulous planning and decisive field leadership. As Lead Electrical Engineer, Deployment Engineering at Fluidstack, you'll bridge the gap between design and operational reality—transforming detailed engineering plans into live, reliable infrastructure across multiple concurrent facilities. You'll manage the complete lifecycle from pre-deployment verification through energization and live handover, ensuring every electrical system runs flawlessly from day one.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical system deployment and commissioning activities from initial readiness assessment through energization, testing, and operational handover across active sites
• Maintain and enhance the operational dependability of electrical infrastructure across our portfolio by investigating power events, identifying root causes, and implementing durability improvements
• Develop and refine electrical commissioning procedures, testing checklists, and operational documentation covering distribution voltage equipment, backup power systems, control systems, and facility-level delivery
• Direct field commissioning work during critical phases including medium-voltage equipment energization, transformer verification, generator capacity testing, and uninterruptible power system performance validation
• Define and uphold electrical performance standards across all deployed systems, including protective system configuration, system redundancy validation, emergency scenario testing, and electrical safety compliance

Who We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline
• Demonstrated hands-on experience deploying and commissioning electrical systems in data center or highly available facility environments
• Direct field experience with energization, testing, and commissioning of medium-voltage distribution, uninterruptible power supply systems, distribution equipment, and diesel backup generation
• Track record developing electrical commissioning procedures, acceptance criteria, and operational playbooks that function reliably across multiple facilities
• Proven ability to perform failure investigation, corrective action development, and implementation under schedule pressure
• Experience training and developing electrical engineering team members to work independently in field commissioning roles
• Ability to travel up to 50 percent of the time to deployment sites
• Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) certification, multi-site electrical program leadership, power system analysis tools (SKM, ETAP), computerized maintenance management systems, power monitoring and predictive maintenance platforms, and knowledge of industry standards (NFPA 70E, NFPA 110, IEEE 3006, Uptime Institute)
