The Opportunity

Serve as a key bridge between PowerLines and federal, state, and local government stakeholders. In this part-time advisory role, you'll work on building durable partnerships with elected officials, agency leaders, and policy influencers who shape the energy and infrastructure landscape. You'll contribute to our efforts to align organizational priorities with government initiatives, support advocacy campaigns, and identify collaboration opportunities across the public sector. This is ideal for someone with government relations experience seeking meaningful part-time work with schedule flexibility.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and nurture relationships with government officials, agency staff, and policy stakeholders at all levels
  • Monitor relevant legislative and regulatory developments that affect our priorities and partnerships
  • Coordinate communications and engagement activities with public sector partners and government bodies
  • Contribute to proposal development, position papers, and advocacy materials for government audiences
  • Participate in government conferences, industry forums, and policy-focused events (many held virtually)
  • Support cross-functional teams in understanding government stakeholder perspectives and concerns
  • Report on stakeholder feedback, partnership progress, and emerging government policy opportunities

Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in government relations, public affairs, or policy advocacy
  • Strong existing relationships with government stakeholders or track record of building them quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics clearly
  • Knowledge of the federal or state legislative and regulatory process
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple stakeholder relationships simultaneously
  • Comfort with remote collaboration and strong self-direction in a part-time capacity
  • Interest in energy, infrastructure, sustainability, or related policy areas
