About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential enterprise AI platform company in their search for a Senior AI Software Engineer to join their innovation research team. This is a remote position for builders who thrive at the intersection of frontier AI capabilities and production software.

Our client operates a focused innovation lab that validates emerging AI capabilities through rapid prototyping. You'll work in fast iteration cycles: identify promising new models or agent patterns, build working prototypes, validate against real metrics (quality, latency, cost, user impact), and provide the insights that shape product decisions. Some work is open-sourced; most directly influences the product roadmap.

This is a deliberately small, senior team. Everyone takes ideas from zero to working software, tests with real users, and argues from evidence rather than theory.

Responsibilities

• Build agentic systems and full-stack prototypes end-to-end, shipping first versions in days and learning from real use
• Track frontier AI developments (new models, agent patterns, emerging protocols) and turn promising concepts into working prototypes rather than presentations
• Design experiments that validate whether concepts hold up, measured in quality, latency, cost, and user impact
• Work directly with internal users, product managers, and customers to validate concepts early and iterate quickly
• Turn validated prototypes into reference implementations and documentation that product teams can build on, then hand off cleanly and move to the next initiative
• Provide product and platform teams concrete feedback on where AI capabilities excel and where they fall short
• Move between initiatives as priorities shift, compounding learnings across projects

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 4+ years building full-stack software, including projects you started from scratch—we weigh what you've shipped more than years of experience
• Production experience shipping LLM-powered systems that real users depended on (not demos or notebooks)
• Deep understanding of AI agents below the framework level: message arrays, tool calling, context management, prompt caching—you could build an agent loop from scratch and explain the design decisions
• Active use of AI-assisted development tools (such as Cursor or similar) as your default workflow, demonstrably making you faster and more effective
• Full-stack capability in practice: comfortable taking a prototype from API to demo UI independently (TypeScript/Node.js and React are core to the stack)
• Thrive in ambiguous environments where best practices don't yet exist—new territory energizes you more than settled plans
• Product mindset: you think in user problems first, solutions second

Valuable additional experience:

• Strong UX/UI sensibility—you can make prototypes feel polished and notice when designs lack that quality
• Experience with voice and real-time AI: streaming, speech-to-text/text-to-speech, voice-to-voice models
• Open-source contributions to agent tooling (MCP servers, testing harnesses, evaluation frameworks)
• Experience designing evaluations for AI systems
• Background in conversational AI or customer-experience products
